Testing and certification

  • On a CPC (children's products): certification must be based on testing by a CPSC-accepted third-party laboratory; in the Registry CSV that lab is entered as Lab Type ITL with its CPSC lab ID.
  • On a GCC (general-use products): certification must be based on a test of each product or a reasonable testing program; third-party lab details are needed only if you rely on a third-party lab (CPSC GCC guidance).

Flammability standards cover clothing textiles (1610), vinyl plastic film (1611), children's sleepwear (1615/1616), carpets and rugs (1630/1631) and mattresses (1632/1633). Several of them apply to both children's and general-use products, so the same code can appear on a CPC or a GCC.
