Chemical limits for children's products (lead, lead paint, phthalates)
These are the most common citations on Children's Product Certificates. Total lead content (15 U.S.C. 1278a) applies to accessible parts of children's products, the lead paint ban (16 CFR 1303) to paint and similar surface coatings, and the phthalates prohibition (16 CFR 1307) to children's toys and child care articles. CPSC has issued material determinations (e.g. 16 CFR 1500.91, 1252, 1253, 1308) that let certifiers claim a testing exclusion instead of testing certain untreated materials.

Durable infant and toddler product standards (16 CFR 1215-1243)
Each durable infant or toddler product type has its own mandatory standard, so a crib, stroller or high chair is certified to its specific part number on a Children's Product Certificate. These products are children's products, so third-party testing by a CPSC-accepted laboratory is required.

Flammability standards (Flammable Fabrics Act, 16 CFR 1610-1633)
Flammability standards cover clothing textiles (1610), vinyl plastic film (1611), children's sleepwear (1615/1616), carpets and rugs (1630/1631) and mattresses (1632/1633). Several of them apply to both children's and general-use products, so the same code can appear on a CPC or a GCC.
